I didn't follow the APA style. I thought it was too complicated. No, actually it is not. It is just that I am too lazy recently.
The cut-off points of hostel stay for PGP is 45 points this year compared to 37 points last year. This is really crazy. I don't know why this cut-off line raised so much.

Recent years due to the rising rental outside campus, students intend to make more CCA points in order to live in campus. However, some CCA clubs organize activities for seek of earning CCA points. In my point of view, some activities are rubbish. A famous example is the club called Bingo. There was a Enterprise talk in UCC center last semester. This club gave CCA points based on how much tickets a student can sale. I felt like they were just doing business.

Hopefully the NUS new campus can be built soon. It may bring some hope of changing the objective of some CCA clubs.

Simples things usually don't work in real life. Things in really life are complicated. That't true. That's why people invented FM.

FM stands for frequency modulation. In real situations due to noise, delay, and muli-path effect the amplitude of a signal are easy to be changed while the frequency of a signal is hard to be affected. In radio broadcast, most wildly used method is FM.

This is a suprising news. Shinji was the capation of the 5th squad. And he left Soul Society 110 years ago. When he was the captain, Aizen was only the vice captain of the 5th squad. Now the question is how he became a Vizard from a Shinigami.

Now the story become more and more interesting. All the captain level Shinigami, Vizards, Arrancars, and the three previous Shinigami captain have gathered in Karakura. A big battle will begin.

However, it seems that Aizen is the final boss in this manga. I think if Ichigo can control his inner hollow and fully master his Bankai, he will reach the level of Aizen soon. But now the next enemy for him is the 4th Espada, Ulquiorra. I wish Ulquiorra has a nice release form.

The Invisible Dangers

Electromagnetic radiation is the most natural way of energy transfer in nature, and it has been widely used in our daily life. Some applications of electromagnetic radiation are microwave oven, antenna, cable TV, and mobile phone. One caution of using electromagnetic radiation is that certain percentage of radiation which always expose to all direction in any media. If the radiation exposure is strong enough, it will cause problem to human body. According to Moeller (1992), “Nowadays exposures from radiation are potential threats to human health in the workplace and in the general environment.”(Moeller, 1992, p. 184)

Strong radiation threatens human health. The principle behind this is simple. When electromagnetic radiation passes through a conductor, it generates moving charge which is known as electrical current. When electrical current move through something which has resistance, it will create thermal energy. Generally speaking, current can heat up matters.

Human body can be seen as a conductor. It is made of molecules which are sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. When radiation passes through human, molecules inside the body will be excited and generate thermal energy. In an macro point of view, molecules’ temperature will rise. If the radiation is strong enough, molecules will then be heated. For example, if a person put his hands on a large transmitting antenna, his or her hands will be burned. That’s one of the most important reasons why large antenna must be built far away from residential area.

Being specific, one type of electromagnetic radiation has deep effect on human health, which is called cell phone radiation. Scientists call it the invisible dangerous, because when people use cell phone; their head will usually have a close contact with the cell phone which is considered to be a radiation. The radiation has a direct impact on human brain.

In China, cell phone radiation has become a big problem. Unlike in America, in China the standards of cell phone radiation are not strictly regulated. And due to the boom of China’s economic. The business circle of cell phone is very short. In every few months, new cell phone models will be seen in the market. Very often each model of cell phone may mostly last one year in the market. It created difficulty to regulate the standard. As a result, customers in China suffer health danger.

Solving this problem is not a one side job. Firstly, government must set strictly laws to regulate those cell phone producers. Secondly, lower power cell phone technologies should be used to reduce the EMF radiation strength. Thirdly, we need to use cell phone less in our daily life.

Life is not linear

Shit! I put so much time on today's test, but I only got 50 out of 100. Although the average score is between 30 and 40, I should not compared with the average. Life is not linear. I thought by putting more effort I will get much better. I was wrong. Sometimes luck is an important factor. That's why some people say there is always a X-factor.

It stopped at 22

Houston Rockets lost today. Their winning streak was ended. Some of my friends feel sad about their lost. I said to one of my friends “Yes, they lost. So what? Watching basketball is just for fun, right?” He disagreed with me. He said “How can we do that? We should support Rockets.”

Sometimes I really feel strange about this thinking. I believe watching sports is just for fun. When Yao Ming joined Houston Rockets, a lot of Chinese people, including quite number of my friends began to this team. They became the fans of Rockets. Unfortunately, Rockets sucked in last four years.

Personally I think Yao Ming is a good player, but it is not worthy to become his fans. The fact is no matter how well he plays doesn’t not guarantee I will be healthy. I think it is better to do some sports for our health instead of admiring those “star” players.

I did a survey just now. I was asked if I mind work with female engineers. My answer is I don’t care. I think gender is not a main issue. I believe the most important thing should be the output. I mean who I like to work with is depend on how much output can we create if we cooperate. Gender and age is not important criteria for me to consider. I like productive engineer.

Zero Waste vs Landfilling

The zero waste method is more suitable for all countries around the world, including my country, China. The zero waste method has several advantages compared to the traditional landfilling method. Firstly, using the zero waste method, plastic pollution (white pollution) can be solved because plastic products have an extremely stable chemical structure. While by landfilling, these products are only put underground, while using the zero waste method, plastic can be recycled into raw material for new products. Secondly, using the zero waste method can reduce costs. For example, some products like cars, washing machines, and computers contain different metals inside. If these metals can be recycled, industry will be less dependent on hunting new resources. It actually reduces the cost to the society. Thirdly, using the zero waste method will make less land pollution than the land filling method. The problem with land filling is all kinds of waste are stored underground. And because wastes can affect soil, the soil will be polluted. In conclusion, the zero waster method is more practical, more economical, and more environmentally friendly. More countries should accept this method.

Here are some famous words said by NUS professors.

Engineers like number 2, 5, and 10. They don't like 3 or 7. When some number is divided by 3 or 7, you won't get a nice number.

Sometimes We Have No Choices.

Yesterday my friend told me the rental for a single room with toilet (mater room) is around 600 to 700 Singapore dolors. I realize in recent years the rental in Singapore has largely raised.

Economy of Singapore faced a boom in last two years. To turn the birth rate up, Singapore government approved more PR last year. And these people need place to live. When the demand shifted up, the rental raised. Not only the rental outside, but the hostel fees in University also raised.

Obviously, this is not good for foreign students. Anyway, I have no choices but to keep paying. Maybe I shall wish there will be some finical crises so that the price will drop. Oh, I am so evil.

Periodic or Random?

In real life we have to deal with different signals. The ways of processing signals are very complicated. For example, for sound signal, our ears receive sound and our brain actually do Fourier transform to give us the magnitude of sound. The real signals in life are random. Unlike what we do Fourier transform in mathematics class by using the integration formula for simple signals, our brain actually did it by heavily digital computation. That's also a reason why we need to sleep everyday to let our brain rest.

As I have mentioned, the most interesting kind of signals is random signal. However, when we start to understand the behaviors of signals, we start with periodic signals. Because periodic signals are simple in mathematics. That is the purpose of learning periodic signals. It doesn't mean human like listening periodic sound or watching periodic video.

Some people obviously misunderstood this purpose. They used periodic signal to construct TV advertisement. They thought periodic signals which have a characteristic of repeating itself may give customers a deeper impression. Their idea was as same as Adolf Hitler's. Hitler believed a lie became true when repeating 1000 times. Maybe he is the first man who loves periodic signals.

In year 2008, a PRC brand HengYuanXiang broadcast its advertisement during Chinese New Year. After watching it, most people dislike this advertisement. I watched it on my computer. My first impression was "Oh, did my computer get virus?"!

(This is that terrible advertisement below.)

In Science or Engineering, people invent simple model like periodic signal or simple harmonic motion, because simple models are easy to study. Then a complex model can be made by constructing many simple models in some certain ways. It is the same in real life. When we start to learn something new, we will always start with something simple. It does not mean simple things or simple ways really work in all situations. In fact, methods which work for complex situations are also complex. Life is not that simple to analyze.

Everything that has a beginning has an end

I think author Charles Krauthammer presented an interesting point of view. Saving nature, but for man. It sounds good. But I don't think it is easy to save the nature, even just for human.

When there is a technology developed by human, there will be a new disaster for nature. It seems always true. Remember what we human have done? We invented automatically machine in the first industry revolution, and London became famous of its foggy weather. We invented car, and air pollution became serious. We invented computer, and high tech trash are thrown everywhere. We found how to Nuclear power, and there was a serious disaster happened in Soviet Union.

Agent Smith(A character from the movie Matrix I) said human is a kind of virus that consume all the resources. He is right. That is how we have developed our civilization.

Although some people believe that we should save the nature, most people will still try to use the resources from nature without taking care. We can't change the greed inside everyone's mind.

Everything has a beginning has an end. This is also applied to human. One day, human will be disappeared in this universe, it is just when.

Miami Heats is the most disappointing team in this season. I thought Ricky Davis could be the fresh blood of this team. I was wrong. He is the same old player who is fairly good, but never being excellent. Players like him, Kenyon Martin, and Eddy Curry don’t have high basketball IQ.

Yesterday is a shameful day for Heats. They lost to Warriors by 35 points. Wade didn’t play on the court because of his injury. It is obvious that without Wade, no one can stand out to lead this team.

After trading Shark, Heats is going to have enough salary space by the end of this season. Now what they are doing is to lose and lose so that they can have a better chance to pick a player (maybe Michael Beasley) in NBA 2008 draft. They have no choice but to finish their boring season first.

That T-Mac is back

Rockets is rising with 18-win streak. I don’t know what happened to T-Mac. Now he is totally diffident from what he performed two month ago. He played excellently today against Hornets. Although Landry was injured before the match, T-Mac still led Rockets crossed over the opponent. He made a lot of nice shots today. I think sometimes the way he plays is unreasonable strange with unreasonable shooting percentage. It is unbelievable, isn’t it?

Now the problem is without Yao Ming, rockets will still be a strong team if both Luis Scola and Carl Landry are healthy. I watched the match of Rockets against Nuggets, when either Scola or Landry was not on the court and other people’s hands were cold, rockets’ offense was against wall.

I think the Rockets’ manager did not expected Yao would be off for the rest of whole season, otherwise he would not have traded Bonzi Wells to Hornets, because Wells’ big ass was quite useful. Now he needs to pray that Landry’s injury is not serious.
